Juzz Muzz: Breakfast Flavors from the Levant
Personal Note
“This dish holds a special place in my heart because my dad often made it for breakfast, especially during his time in the army. It reminds me of home and family gatherings, where we would share simple, nourishing meals together.” —Becker Kotob

Ingredients
- 1 tomato, chopped
- 1 onion, chopped
- 4 large eggs, beaten
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon pepper paste
- 1 potato (optional)
- Pita bread (traditionally served with the dish)
Instructions
- Cook the Potatoes (Optional): If adding potatoes, peel and chop them, then cook in a pan with the lid on to help them cook through.
- Sauté the Onions: In a pan, sauté the chopped onions until browned.
- Cook the Tomatoes: Add the chopped tomatoes, and remove the lid to allow all the water to evaporate, cooking until the tomatoes soften.
- Add the Seasonings: Stir in the pepper paste, salt, and pepper.
- Add the Eggs: Pour in the beaten eggs, stirring gently until they’re cooked through and scrambled with the other ingredients.
- Serve: Traditionally, Juzz Muzz is eaten with pita bread, using it to scoop up the eggs and vegetables. You can also enjoy it without the bread if preferred.
Cultural Context
Juzz Muzz is a traditional breakfast dish enjoyed across the Levant region, often prepared in homes and shared among families. Its simplicity and hearty flavors make it a go-to for busy mornings or a comforting meal to start the day.
Unique Twist
Though traditionally served with pita bread, you can easily enjoy Juzz Muzz on its own. The pepper paste adds a bold kick to the dish, enhancing the flavors of the tomatoes and eggs.
